Facial Contouring

Rhinoplasty (Surgery of the Nose)

While the shape and size of your nose are largely the result of heredity, the appearance and function of the nose may be affected by trauma or previous surgery. When the nose is out of proportion with other facial features or does not complement the face, it can affect how you feel about yourself and your confidence level..

If you are bothered by the size or shape of your nose, then cosmetic surgery of the nose, or rhinoplasty, may be right for you. Cosmetic rhinoplasty is designed to improve the appearance and proportion of the nose, enhancing facial harmony and self-confidence. Surgery of the nose can also be performed to correct impaired breathing caused by structural defects or injuries.

Rhinoplasty can change:

Surgery of the nose can also improve impaired breathing caused by structural abnormalities in the nose such as a deviated septum.

In some cases, the characteristics of the nose are not the only factors responsible for facial imbalance. A small chin, weak cheekbones and/or lower jaw may also be responsible and in these cases, rhinoplasty may be performed in conjunction with placement of facial implants or other procedures to achieve overall facial balance.

Facial Implants- Surgery of the Chin, Cheeks and Jaw

If you would like to change the contours of your face, you might want to consider implants. Facial implants can improve proportion and profiles and correct imbalance by building up the chin, the cheeks, or the jaw. Placement of facial implants is frequently combined with other procedures. A small chin will make the nose appear larger in proportion. Placement of a chin implant can be performed alone or in conjunction with cosmetic rhinoplasty to achieve facial balance and harmony. During a facelift, a patient may wish to have implants placed over the cheekbones to help restore youthful fullness.

Otoplasty (Ear Surgery)

Our ears rarely attract attention when normal in size or shape. But, protruding, large or misshapen ears can attract unwanted attention and detract form facial appearance resulting in a lack of self-confidence. Plastic surgery of the ear is performed to improve the shape, position or proportion of the ear. Repositioning and reshaping protruding ears is the most common form of ear surgery (otopalsty) and can be performed as early as age 5. The results of otoplasty are often immediately apparent once the supportive dressings are removed. In general, ear surgery creates a natural shape, while creating balance to the face and ears that should last a lifetime.

Other Facial Contouring Procedures

Liposuction is often used to sculpt the neckline and improve contour. Fat or fillers may be injected to add volume to the cheeks, chin or jawline and thereby rejuvenate and enhance facial appearance .
